How to Overclock a GPU

Method #1: The Geek Pub 1

  1. Apply the following settings:
    • Core VoltageNo change
    • Power Limit85%
    • Temp Limit70c
    • Core Clock (Mhz)-50Mhz
    • Memory Clock (Mhz)No change
    • Fan SpeedAuto
  2. Increase Memory Clock (Mhz)
    • Increase by 400Mhz
    • Let the miner continue to mine for about 10 minutes. Hashrate should improve.
      • If you start seeing errors: remove 50Mhz at a time until the errors go away.
      • If the card performs well at +400Mhz, add +50Mhz every 5 or so minutes until you start seeing errors.
  3. Start lowering the core clock and power limit
    • Decrease -5 at a time until errors occurr, and then raise it back up to the last increment it was stable.

Method #2: Sebs FinTech Channel 2

  1. We start by finding what the most efficient setting is for mining with our GPUs stock clocks by adjusting the power limit in MSI Afterburner.
  2. Once we've found the most efficient power limit for our stock clock, we reset the power limit and start overclocking our memory.
    • To overclock our GPUs memory for mining we simply start methodically adjusting the memory in MSI Afterburner.
    • We want to adjust our memory to get the highest possible hashrate in our miner without crashing, we do this by going to the point where our GPU crashes and then lowering it by 10% from there.
  3. We then repeat this same process but for our core clock.
  4. Finally, we start adjusting our power limit again, to find the most optimal efficiency with our overclocks in place.

Method #3: 2Miners 3

  1. Identify the max memory clock:
    • Increase by 50Mhz-100Mhz at a time and monitor for errors.
  2. Find the core voltage/power limit that will give you the desired GPU energy consumption or a desired hashrate.
    • Lower voltage/power limit = lower hashrate.
  3. Find the max stable core clock (at +25 MHz intervals), move 25 MHz down from it.

Method #4: reddit 4

  1. Increase core clock by 5% of the default value. Put the power limit slider to its maximum value.
  2. Keep increasing core clock by 10 MHz until hashrate stops improving or becomes unstable. Once it does, drop back down 10 MHz.
  3. Keep increasing memory clock by 25mhz until hashrate stops improving or becomes unstable. Once it does, drop the memory clock by 25 MHz.
