DBT Workshop Proposal

Dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), with its mix of cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and mindfulness, is an evidence-based practice that has proven useful in treating multiple disorders, including substance use disorders. As such, Ken Brown residents would benefit from continued exposure to DBT.

I propose that we set aside 45-60 minutes every Wednesday afternoon at 2 PM for a DBT workshop. We would use the DBT Skills Training Handouts and Worksheets, Second Edition book to cover core DBT topics like analyzing behavior, mindfulness skills, interpersonal effectiveness skills, emotion regulation skills, and distress tolerance skills. Special emphasis would be placed on how these skills can be applied to real-world scenarios.
